Messaging sellers safely
Stay on the platform's contact channels — and what to avoid.
Messaging sellers safely
Most communication with sellers happens through their verified WhatsApp number (shown on their shop or service page). Here's how to stay safe.
Use the verified contact
Only message the WhatsApp number shown on the seller's verified shop page. If a 'seller' DMs you first or shares a different number through comments, treat it as suspicious.
Pay through the app's escrow, not direct
If a seller asks you to send MoMo directly instead of ordering through Kampala Snap, that bypasses your PIN protection. You'd lose dispute and refund rights. Always place the order through the app.
Red flags
- Asks for payment outside the platform
- Pushes for the delivery PIN before you've received the item
- Asks for personal info beyond delivery details
- Pressures you to act quickly ("only today!")
Report any of these via the shop's Report button.
