Delete your KampalaSnap data or account
Effective date: 2026-06-09 Last updated: 2026-06-10 Operated by: Hobermalo · KampalaSnap
You can delete specific pieces of your data without closing your KampalaSnap account, or delete your whole account. This page covers both, plus what we keep (and why) and how long each step takes.
This page is publicly accessible, no install required, per Google Play and App Store requirements. If you do have the app installed, the in-app flows below are faster.
Option A — Delete just some of your data (account stays open)
Most of the data we hold for you can be removed directly from the app, one piece at a time, without you having to close your account.
What you can delete yourself, in the app
| Data | Where in the app |
|---|---|
| A video you uploaded | Open the video → tap the ••• menu → Delete video |
| A product listing you posted | Seller dashboard → tap the listing → Delete |
| A shop post or comment you wrote | Open the post / comment → ••• → Delete |
| A review you wrote | Your profile → My Reviews → swipe / tap Delete |
| A saved payout method (mobile money / bank) | Wallet → Payout methods → Remove |
| Your avatar, bio, or other profile fields | Edit Profile → blank the field → Save |
| Your Google or Apple sign-in link | Account → Connected accounts → Unlink |
| A user you blocked | Account → menu → Blocked users → Unblock |
These deletions take effect immediately.
Anything else — request by email
For data you can't delete yourself (for example, a specific delivery
address held on a past order, or any data point not listed above),
email support@kampalasnap.com with the subject [PRIVACY] and
tell us what you want removed. We respond within 7 days and
complete the action within 30 days.
What's kept even if you delete a single piece of data
If you delete an individual order or wallet entry, the corresponding financial record (transaction amount, date, fee, reference code) is retained for 7 years with your personal identifiers anonymised, because tax and financial-record law in the jurisdictions we operate in require it. The personal details on those records (name, phone, address) are still removed from the visible part of the record.
Option B — Delete your whole account
Closing your whole account removes everything described in §"What happens when you delete your account" below. Three ways to do it:
From inside the app (fastest)
- Open the KampalaSnap app
- Tap Account in the bottom navigation
- Scroll to the very bottom of the menu
- Tap Delete account and confirm with your password
By email (if you can't access the app)
Send an email to support@kampalasnap.com with:
- The phone number you registered with, OR the email address you used for Google or Apple sign-in
- The username on your account, if you remember it
- A short confirmation: "Please delete my KampalaSnap account."
We send a verification code to the contact method on the account to confirm it's really you, then process the deletion.
We respond within 7 days to email requests. The deletion itself is immediate once we receive your verification.
By web form
Use the form at the bottom of this page.
What happens when you delete your account
Immediately (within minutes of confirmation)
- Your account is soft-deleted
- Your profile is no longer visible to other users
- Your username and phone slot become reusable for a new signup
- You are signed out on every device
- Push notifications stop
- New orders or messages directed to you bounce
After 30 days
The 30-day window exists to reverse accidental deletions and to resolve any dispute opened just before you deleted. Once it closes:
- Personal identifying information is anonymised in the database (encrypted personal fields are scrubbed)
- Stored personal data — name, phone, email, delivery addresses, payout account numbers, profile photos — is removed
Kept for 7 years (with personal identifiers anonymised)
- Catalog escrow transaction records and wallet ledger entries
- Escrow order history (without your personal identifiers)
- Withdrawal and payout records
- Dispute records (without your personal identifiers)
This retention is required by tax and financial-record law in the jurisdictions we operate in. It applies to the financial events only — your name, phone, address, and contact details on those records are anonymised after the 30-day window. We do not retain identifiable financial data longer than the law requires.
Not retained beyond the normal Tier C windows
- Direct-contact tap events on listings and service profiles (these weren't transactions on our side, so there's no financial record to keep — they fall out with the rest of behavioural data)
- Aggregate analytics (counts of products viewed, search queries — no per-user records remain after 90 days regardless)
For the full retention model, see our Privacy Policy.
What you can't delete
A few things can't be removed because doing so would harm other users:
- Reviews you wrote on sellers — they become anonymous after account deletion but the rating they contributed to remains. This protects future buyers from losing the seller-reputation signal.
- Posts and comments other users have replied to — your text is removed; the thread structure remains so the replies make sense.
- Order records on the seller's side of catalog escrow orders — sellers need their order history. Your name and address are anonymised on the seller's view of past orders.
If any of these matter to you, contact support@kampalasnap.com before deleting to discuss case by case.
Outstanding balances and orders
Before you delete:
- If you have any wallet balance (from deposits, escrow earnings, or affiliate commissions): withdraw it first. We cannot send money to a deleted account; after deletion, wallet funds become unrecoverable.
- If you have catalog orders in flight: complete or cancel them. Deletion during an active order can leave it in limbo and force a refund through manual intervention.
- If you have open disputes: resolve them first. We can't continue a dispute against a deleted account.
- If you've been transacting via direct-contact (WhatsApp, Call): those conversations and any payments live in WhatsApp and your bank / mobile money records; deleting your KampalaSnap account doesn't touch them. Wrap up open commitments on the relevant channel before deleting.
We warn you about any of these before processing the deletion.
Sign-in via Google or Apple
If you signed in with Google or Apple, deleting your KampalaSnap account does not affect your Google or Apple account. To remove KampalaSnap's authorisation in those providers:
- Google: https://myaccount.google.com/connections → find "KampalaSnap" → Remove access
- Apple: Settings → [your name] → Sign in with Apple → KampalaSnap → Stop using Apple ID

If you can't use the app or email, fill in the form below. We'll contact you on the verification channel within 7 days.
After you submit, we send a verification code to the phone or email you entered. Once verified, deletion is immediate.
