Delete your KampalaSnap account
Effective date: 2026-06-09 Last updated: 2026-06-09
You can delete your KampalaSnap account at any time. This page explains how, what gets deleted, what we keep (and why), and how long it takes.
This page exists because Google Play and the App Store require it: a publicly-accessible way to request account deletion that doesn't require having the app installed. If you have the app installed, the in-app flow is faster.
How to delete your account
Option 1 — From inside the app (fastest)
- Open the KampalaSnap app
- Tap Account in the bottom navigation
- Scroll to the very bottom
- Tap Delete account and confirm with your password
Option 2 — By email (if you can't access the app)
Send an email to support@kampalasnap.com with:
- The phone number you registered with, OR the email address you used for Google or Apple sign-in
- The username on your account if you remember it
- A short confirmation: "Please delete my KampalaSnap account."
We'll send a verification code to the contact method on the account to confirm it's really you, then process the deletion.
We respond within 7 days to email requests. The deletion itself is immediate once we receive your verification.
Option 3 — By web form
Use the form at the bottom of this page to submit a deletion request.
What happens when you delete your account
Immediately (within minutes of confirmation)
- Your account is soft-deleted
- Your profile is no longer visible to other users
- Your username and phone number become reusable for a new signup
- You're logged out on every device
- Push notifications stop
- New orders or messages directed to you bounce
After 30 days
The 30-day window exists to reverse accidental deletions and to resolve disputes opened right before deletion. After it closes:
- Personal Identifying Information is anonymized in the database (encrypted PII fields scrubbed)
- Stored personal data — name, phone, email, delivery addresses, MoMo numbers, profile photos — is removed
Kept for 7 years (with personal identifiers anonymized)
- Financial records (transactions, wallet ledger, escrow records, withdrawals, payout records)
- Order history (without your personal identifiers)
- Dispute records (without your personal identifiers)
This 7-year retention is required by Ugandan tax and financial-record keeping law. It applies to the financial events only — your name, phone, address, and contact info on those records are anonymized after the 30-day window.
Not deleted (because they were never personal)
- Aggregate analytics (counts of products viewed, search queries — no per-user records remain after 90 days regardless)
- Anonymous platform statistics
For the full retention model, see our Privacy Policy.
What you can't delete
Some content can't be deleted because removing it would harm other users:
- Reviews you wrote on sellers — these become anonymous after account deletion but the rating they contributed to remains. This protects future buyers from losing the seller-reputation signal.
- Posts and comments other users have replied to — your text is removed; the thread structure remains so the replies make sense.
- Order records on the seller's side — sellers need their order history. Your name and address are anonymized on the seller's view of past orders.
If any of these matter to you, contact support@kampalasnap.com before deleting to discuss case-by-case.
Outstanding balances and orders
Before you delete:
- If you're a seller with wallet balance: withdraw it first. We cannot send money to a deleted account. After deletion, wallet funds become unrecoverable.
- If you have orders in flight: complete or cancel them. Deletion during an active order may leave the order in limbo and force a refund through manual intervention.
- If you have open disputes: resolve them first. We can't continue a dispute against a deleted account.
We will warn you about any of these before processing the deletion.
Sign-in via Google or Apple
If you signed in with Google or Apple, deleting your KampalaSnap account does not affect your Google or Apple account. You'll need to revoke KampalaSnap's access in those providers separately if you want to remove our authorization:
- Google: https://myaccount.google.com/connections → find "KampalaSnap" → Remove access
- Apple: Settings → [your name] → Sign in with Apple → KampalaSnap → Stop using Apple ID
Web form
If you can't use the app or email, fill in the form below. We'll contact you on the verification channel within 7 days.
After you submit, we'll send a verification code to the phone or email you entered. Once verified, deletion is immediate.
